ABOUT

Pheasant Lane

We are a small, family-run business creating blankets, throws, cushions and felted gifts from the wonderful fleece of our Pedigree Cotswold Sheep wool famed for its natural sheen, once called the “Golden Fleece.” Our journey began in 2017 with four shearling ewes grazing a friend’s meadow, but our roots in farming stretch back generations.

Andrew’s love of farming began with his grandfather, a farm manager in Hampshire, while Rachael’s grew from her childhood on a mixed farm in South Shropshire. A few years after starting our flock, we began showing our sheep at local agricultural shows. Abigail quickly took charge of this side of farm life, and she especially enjoys preparing the sheep and guiding them confidently into the show ring.

Today, our flock has grown to seventy sheep, each one known by name and raised with care in the Shropshire countryside.

Why ‘Pheasant Lane’?

The name comes from the country lane we travel down each day to reach our sheep.

Winding through the Shropshire countryside, this quiet lane is often alive with pheasants.

For a couple of years, one particularly cheeky pheasant made himself at home among the flock. He would wander into the field at teatime, confidently sharing the sheep trough as though he’d always belonged there.

When we began creating products from our own wool, the name Pheasant Lane stuck and so did the memories.

OUR STORY

In 2021, we took the next step in our journey and began producing our own woollen items using the fleece from our flock.

Knowing how special this natural fibre is, we wanted to create sustainable, British-made pieces that truly honoured it.

To do this, we partnered with a skilled weaver in South Wales who helps us transform our wool into beautiful, one-of-a-kind items crafted with care and tradition.

We feel privileged to care for this wonderful sheep breed and to transform their lustrous wool into beautiful products. Each piece we sell comes with the assurance that our sheep live ethical, happy lives – a value we are truly proud of.

high-quality, sustainable wool products

Our mission is to produce high-quality, sustainable wool products derived from our small flock of Pedigree Cotswold Sheep, providing customers with premium, wool items whilst supporting British craftsmanship by using local weavers.

“Ordered a standard grey checked throw for a birthday present. it was delivered by Rachael beautifully presented in sustainable packing. My friend loved it. Will definitely be buying again.”
